Spartans seniors take opener with Centre Dufferin

GUELPH – The Centennial Spartans opened their District 4/10 high school senior boys’ rugby season Monday with a 24-14 victory over the Centre Dufferin Royals.

The Spartans struck for four tries in the match while Centre Dufferin scored both of its tries in the second half.

Luke MacNaughton struck for two tries for the host Spartans while Nolan Bumbaco and Bobby Dowhan each had one try and Ethan Mark and Ethan Godinho each kicked a convert.

Jared Marshall and Churchill Unugbro scored the tries for Centre Dufferin and Zack Olford converted both.

The Raiders scored eight tries in the match and Ireland Murphy led with four of them. Emma Warren added a try and four converts while Kirsty Lewis and Olivia Foreman each added a try.
