KDSL Royals and FC Rohingya play to a deadlock

Guelph Royals battled FC Rohingya to a 2-2 standoff in Kitchener and District Soccer League Premier Division play Sunday at Kitchener’s Woodside Park.

Colin Lake and Jayden Mazza scored a goal apiece for Rohingya.

Guelph’s scorers were not reported.

Friday, the Royals suffered a 2-0 loss to Oriental SC in their league opener at Oriental Park in Cambridge.

Robbie Frank and Tyler Martin scored for Oriental.

Guelph Redcoats sweep pair of OWL league matches

Guelph Redcoats run to 69-0 victory over London St. George in Rugby Ontario’s Ontario Women’s League firsts play at the Guelph Lake Sports Fields Saturday.

The Redcoats scored 11 tries in the win.

The Redcoats also defeated London St. George 40-5 in OWL seconds play. Guelph had six tries in the match while St. George had one.

 
Guelph Redcoats clobber Grimsby RFC in NRU men’s play

Guelph Redcoats opened their Niagara Rugby Union A division season with a 74-12 victory over Grimsby RFC Saturday at the Guelph Lake Sports Fields.

The Redcoats had 12 tries in the match and Grimsby had two.

 

Fergus Highland men blank Hamilton Hornets in opener

Fergus Highland opened their Niagara Rugby Union men’s A season with a 24-0 shutout of the Hamilton Hornets Saturday at Victoria Park in Fergus.

Highland had four tries in the match.

The Fergus side also claimed a win in NRU men’s B play as they downed Hamilton 59-17.

Highland scored 11 tries in that game while Hamilton had three.

 

Fergus Highland women downed in their opener

Fergus Highland was handed a 24-10 setback by the Hamilton Hornets in Niagara Rugby Union women’s play Saturday at Victoria Park in Fergus.

The Fergus women scored two tries in the match while Hamilton had four.

Grand River Gargoyles open season with loss to Hamilton

The Grand River Gargoyles were nipped 34-24 by the Hamilton Wildcats in their AFL Ontario season opener Saturday at Margaret Greene Park.

The second quarter proved to be the downfall of the Gargs as they had led 10-1 at the end of the first quarter, but trailed 15-10 at halftime. Hamilton extended its lead to 26-16 by the end of the third quarter.

Grand River’s goals were not available.

Oliver Drigo, Nick Liang, Trent McIlroy and Luke Oribine each had a goal for Hamilton.

Junior Gryphons win three of four in OSFL play

The Guelph Junior Gryphons slipped by the North Halton Crimson Tide in Ontario Summer Football League U18 play Saturday at Alumni Stadium.

It was Guelph’s second win in as many league outings.

In U16 play, the Junior Gryphons dropped North Halton 25-9 at Alumni Stadium Saturday.

In U14 play at Alumni Stadium Saturday, the Junior Gryphons were doubled 26-13 by the Niagara Generals.

In U10 play at Pickering, the Junior Gryphons downed the Durham Dolphins 40-24 Saturday.
