Guelph Gryphons split doubleheader with Waterloo Warriors

KITCHENER – The Guelph Gryphons split an Ontario Intercollegiate Women’s Fastpitch Association doubleheader with the Waterloo Warriors Sunday at Kitchener’s Budd Park.

The Gryphs took the first game 5-4 while Waterloo took the nightcap 8-0.

The Gryphs are to wrap up their regular season with a doubleheader against the Brock Badgers at the University of Guelph campus diamond Friday night. First game is to start at 7 p.m. with the second game following around 9 p.m.

The Gryphs are sixth in the West Division. Laurier Golden Hawks lead at 13-0 and are followed by Brock at 11-1, Western Mustangs at 10-3, McMaster Marauders at 5-5, Waterloo at 4-8, Guelph at 4-9 and Windsor Lancers at 3-10.



Guelph Gryphons have doubleheader with McMaster cancelled

DUNDAS – The Guelph Gryphons and McMaster Marauders had their OUA men’s baseball league doubleheader Sunday at Volunteer Field cancelled.

The Gryphs are to host the Ontario Nationals in an exhibition match Wednesday at Pearson Park. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

The Gryphs are also to play three league games at Kitchener on the weekend as they’re to play the York Lions Saturday at 10 a.m., Carleton Ravens Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Queen’s Gaels Sunday at 9:30 a.m.



Guelph Gryphons dropped by Toronto Varsity Blues

WATERLOO – The Guelph Gryphons suffered a 14-5 loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues in OUA women’s field lacrosse play Sunday at University Stadium in Waterloo.

The loss leaves the Gryphs at 1-6 on the season.

The Gryphs are to play a pair of games at their own Varsity Field Sunday as they’re to tangle with the Western Mustangs at 10:15 a.m. and McMaster Marauders at 1:45 p.m.

Western’s at 7-0 on the season while McMaster’s at 2-5.



Mount Forest Patriots, Mitchell Hawks postponed

MITCHELL – The Mount Forest Patriots and Mitchell Hawks had their Provincial Junior Hockey League game slated for Sunday afternoon postponed due to poor ice conditions at the Mitchell and District Arena.

A makeup date has not be announced.

The Patriots (2-1-0-0) are to play a pair of home games at the Mount Forst and District Sports Complex on the weekend as they’re to host the Goderich Flyers (0-4-0-0) Friday at 8:30 p.m. and the Kincardine Bulldogs (2-2-0-0) Saturday at 8 p.m.
