Storm overpower Owen Sound with three straight goals

OWEN SOUND – The Guelph Storm struck for three consecutive goals, including two on the power play, as they defeated the Owen Sound Attack 5-2 in Ontario Hockey League play Saturday night at Owen Sound’s Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

The trio of goals broke a 1-1 tie in a game that never saw the Storm trail.

Guelph had the lone goal of the first period and led 3-1 after the second.

Braeden Bowman (his 21st), Charlie Paquette (11th), Vilmer Alriksson (8th) and Jett Luchanko (13th) had a goal apiece for the Storm. Michael Buchinger had a pair of assists while single assists were awarded to Luchanko, Brayden Hislop, Rowan Topp, Wil McFadden, Rylan Singh and Jake Karabela.

Deni Goure and Konnor Smith tallied for Owen Sound while assists went to Ethan Burroughs, Smith, Madden Steen and Antonio Tersigni.

The Storm outshot the Attack 35-31 and went 2-for-5 on their power play while Owen Sound was scoreless on four power plays.

Brayden Gillespie had 29 saves in the Guelph net while Carter George had 30 saves for Owen Sound.

The Storm are fifth in the Western Conference at 22-13-2-1 and Owen Sound is sixth at 18-16-2-1.

The Storm are to host the ninth-place Sarnia Sting (15-21-1-0) Sunday  at the Sleeman Centre. Game time is 4 p.m.
