Storm surrender final three goals in loss to Brantford

OHSWEKEN – The Guelph Storm yielded the final three goals of the game as they suffered a 5-2 loss to the Brantford Bulldogs in Ontario Hockey League preseason play Friday night at the Six Nations Sports Centre.

That string of three consecutive goals for Brantford started with the eventual game-winner at 8:10 of the second period and continued with an insurance marker at 1:15 of the third and an empty-netter with 2:41 to go.

The Storm never led in the game, although the score was tied at both 1-1 and 2-2.

It was tied 1-1 at the end of the first period and Brantford led 3-2 after the second.

Leo Serlin and Rylan Singh scored for Guelph while assists were awarded to Hunter McKenzie, Gavin Grundner, Charlie Paquette and Parker Snelgrove.

Brantford received single goals from Jake O’Brien, Noah Nelson, Dylan Tsherna, Adrian Rebelo and Marek Vanacker. O’Brien also had two assists while Ben Bujold, Braeden O’Keefe, Ben Radley, Callum Cheynowski, Masen Wray and Lawson Sherk each had one.

The Storm outshot the Bulldogs 32-27 while the teams were each scoreless on a single power play.

Damian Slavik had 22 saves for Guelph while Matteo Drobac had 30 for Brantford.

The result leaves the Storm with three wins, a loss in a shootout and a loss in regulation time in their preseason. Brantford’s at 4-1-0-0.

The two teams are to complete their preseasons when they meet again Saturday at the Sleeman Centre. Game time is 7 p.m.

The Storm are to open their regular season with a game against the Owen Sound Attack Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
