Third-period goals lift Shamrocks to victory

CAMBRIDGE – The Hespeler Shamrocks struck for three goals in the third period to record their second win in three games as they doubled the Paris Titans 4-2 in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Sunday at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.

The teams had scored a goal apiece in the first period before a scoreless second.

Andrew Harris, Justin George, Daniel Tremblay and Jett Spark had a goal apiece for the Shamrocks while Jack Restauri and Gavin Logher picked up two assists apiece. Boden White and Tremblay each had one assist.

Scoring for Paris were Simon Otaki and Ethan Bush while assists were awarded to Josiah Albrecht, Tyler Crisostomo, Duncan Dodd and Timothy Mervyn.

The Shamrocks outshot the Titans 40-25, but were scoreless on six power plays. Both goals for Paris came on the power play as the Titans had six power plays.

David Hanley had 23 saves for the Shamrocks while Josh Roman had 36 for Paris.

Woodstock Navy Vets lead the Doherty Division at 10-1-0-0 while the New Hamburg Firebirds are second at 8-3-1-0, Tavistock Braves third at 6-5-0-0, the Shamrocks fourth at 5-6-0-0, Norwich Merchants fifth at 4-6-1-0, Wellesley Applejacks sixth at 4-5-0-0 and Paris seventh at 1-9-1-0.

The Shamrocks and Titans are to clash again Saturday at the Brant Sports Complex. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
