Three-goal second sparks Fergus Whalers to win

WINGHAM – The Fergus Whalers connected for three goals in the second period as they downed the Wingham Ironmen 5-1 in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Saturday at Wingham’s North Huron Wescast Community Centre.

Ty Anselmini had two goals and two assists for the Whalers while the other goals were scored by Jack Webley, Joshua Russell and Jett Morningstar. Mark Pyzowski also had two assists while Morningstar, Ryan McDougall, Kyle Parsons and Tyler Ewald each had an assist.

Jesse Coombs scored for Wingham with help from Coleson Fischer and Owen Rahn.

The Whalers were outshot 31-20 by the Ironmen and neither team scored on their power plays, Fergus having eight power plays and Wingham having four.

Bradley Boville had 30 saves for Fergus and Kaleb Meyer had 15 for Wingham.
