Top four in boys’ hockey all score victories

GUELPH – The top four teams in the District 4/10 high school boys’ hockey league all scored victories Thursday as the league returned to play following the Christmas break.

Ross Royals defeated the Bishop Macdonell Celtics 5-1 while the Norwell Varsity Reds downed the Centre Dufferin Royals 5-2, St. James Lions slipped by the Centennial Spartans 3-1 and Orangeville Bears blanked the Erin Raiders 7-0.

Scorers were not reported for any of the games.

Ross tops the standings at 9-1-0-0 while Norwell (7-1-0-0), St. James (7-2-0-0) and Orangeville (7-3-0-0) are tied for second with 14 points apiece. Norwell has two games on Ross while St. James has one.

Centennial is fifth at 5-3-0-1 and is followed by Centre Wellington Falcons at 2-5-1-0, Bishop Mac at 2-7-0-1, Centre Dufferin at 1-8-1-0 and Erin at 1-8-0-1.

 

D10 Girls’ Hockey

In the lone girls’ game played this week, Centennial blanked St. James 3-0 Wednesday.

Scorers were not reported.

Centre Wellington leads the standings at 7-0-0-0 and is followed by Ross at 4-1-0-0, Centennial at 4-4-0-0, Orangeville at 2-5-0-0 and St. James at 0-7-0-0.

 

D4 Girls’ Hockey

The league’s games set for Wednesday at the Alder Street arena in Orangeville were postponed due to the weather.

The six games slated for that day have been rescheduled for Feb. 13.

Centre Dufferin leads the league at 5-1-0-0 while Norwell and the Wellington Heights Wolverines are both at 3-2-1-0 and the Westside Thunder are at 0-6-0-0.
