Top four in senior hoops add to their win totals
GUELPH – The teams in the top half of the District 10 high school senior girls’ basketball league standings kept pace with one another as all four posted wins Thursday.
Following the day’s action, Centennial Spartans lead the league at 8-0 and are followed by the Orangeville Bears at 7-1, Guelph CVI Green Gaels at 6-2, Ross Royals at 5-3, Bishop Macdonell Celtics at 3-5, Lourdes Crusaders at 2-6, St. James Lions at 1-7 and Centre Wellington Falcons at 0-8.
Ross 64 Centre Wellington 21
Sam Tesfit Ezra struck for 20 points for Ross while Sierra Curvan netted 15.
Lara Thys had 10 for Centre Wellington.
Orangeville 43 Lourdes 38
Ayla Corrigale connected for 30 points for Orangeville.
Olivia Doucette had 14 for Lourdes while Ciara Hayne collected 11.
Guelph CVI 49 St. James 15
Jasmine Liban had 15 points for GCVI while Sam Aljoe had 13 and Phoebe James contributed 10.
Sam had seven for St. James while Teigan and Antenia each had four.
Centennial 59 Bishop Macdonell 27
Jenna Davey collected 21 points for Centennial while Hayley McMillan had 17.
Tahnaya Mullings had nine for Bishop Mac and S. Anstett followed with six.
Junior Girls’ Basketball
Centre Wellington 43 Ross 42
Maggie Long and Sydney Sellers each had 14 points for Centre Wellington.
Rachael Van Milligan had a game-high 17 for Ross while Sienna Monk followed with 15.
Bishop Macdonell 33 Centennial 31
Vera Sewell had 13 points for Bishop Mac while Maeve Bedard had eight.
Camryn Stam struck for 17 for Centennial while Libby Anderson had 10.
St. James 39 Guelph CVI 37
Maya A. and Shania M. each had 12 points for St. James.
Gurmen Judge led GCVI with 15 and Jenna Genidy added 13.
Lourdes 44 Orangeville 21
Jwokmeer Omot had a game-high 24 points for Lourdes while Karlee Hemstreet had seven and Vivien Guti netted six.
Leila had 11 for Orangeville while Carlee had eight and Ainsleigh had the other two.
