
Top two in senior boys’ volleyball register victories
GUELPH – Things loosened up a little atop the District 10 high school senior boys’ volleyball league Tuesday as the top two, Ross Royals and Centennial Spartans, recorded wins while the third- and fourth-placed teams, Lourdes Crusaders and Guelph CVI Green Gaels respectively, were handed defeats.
The Royals swept the Crusaders 3-0 while the Spartans slipped by the Gaels 3-2.
Ross leads the league at 10-1 and are followed by Centennial at 9-2, Lourdes at 8-3, GCVI at 6-5, St. James Lions at 5-6, Centre Wellington Falcons at 4-7, Bishop Macdonell Celtics at 2-9 and Orangeville Bears at 0-11.
Each team has three regular-season matches left on its schedule.
Playoffs are to begin with the quarter-finals Nov. 6. Semifinals are set for Nov.8 while the championship game is to go at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre Nov. 13 at 8 p.m.
