
Varsity Reds vault into lead in senior boys’ soccer
PALMERSTON – The Norwell Varsity Reds grabbed sole possession of first place in the District 4 high school senior boys’ soccer league standings Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over the Emmanuel Christian Eagles at the Palmerston arena fields.
The win leaves the Varsity Reds (4-2-0) with 12 points, breaking a two-way tie for second place with the Erin Raiders (3-1-1) who tied the Westside Thunder (1-3-2) Wednesday. It also allowed Norwell to leapfrog the idle Centre Dufferin Royals (3-2-1) who had been ahead by a point.
Now Norwell leads while Erin and Centre Dufferin are tied for second, Emmanuel Christian Eagles (2-5-0) are fourth and Westside is fifth.

Isaac Spanninga had the goal for Emmanuel Christian.

A. Lamb connected for the goal for Westside while Erin’s goal was potted by Braedon Haddow.
