Westside, Emmanuel Christian remain in first-place knot

ERIN – The Westside Thunder and Emmanuel Christian Eagles kept pace with one another atop the six-team District 4 high school senior girls’ basketball standings Wednesday as both posted victories.

Orangeville’s Westside doubled the Erin Raiders 42-21 while Emmanuel Christian of Fergus dropped the Norwell Varsity Reds of Palmerston 59-3.

Both Westside and Emmanuel Christian have 12 points, but the Thunder have a game in hand as they’re at 6-1 and the Eagles are at 6-2. They’re followed by the Centre Dufferin Royals of Shelburne at 4-2, Erin at 3-4, Norwell at 1-6 and the Wellington Heights Wolverines of Mount Forest at 0-5.

Jessica Burnside led Westside with 12 points while Olivia Wesley added 11.

Katiana Vernon had 10 for Erin and Abi White chipped in with six.

 

Emmanuel Christian 59 Norwell 3

Scoring leaders were not reported.

 

Wellington Heights at Centre Dufferin

Game postponed.
