District 10

Wins leave Royals, Falcons tied for first in girls’ hockey

GUELPH – The Ross Royals and Centre Wellington Falcons kept pace with one another atop the District 10 high school girls’ hockey league standings as they both posted one-sided wins Thursday.

Ross defeated the St. James Lions 9-1 at the Victoria Road arena while Centre Wellington downed the Orangeville Bears 8-1 at Orangeville’s Tony Rose arena.

Ross and Centre Wellington are tied atop the six-team league standings with 3-0-0-0 records. Orangeville is at 1-2-0-0 while the Lourdes Crusaders are at 0-1-0-0 and St. James and the Centennial Spartans are both at 0-2-0-0.

Briar Wade had three goals and two assists for Ross while Kaitlyn Broeckel had two goals and two assists and Tru Hodge also scored twice. Emma Collier and Kiera Bennett both had a goal and two assists while Amanda Sarabura and Tegan Penson each had an assist.

Teighan McDonald scored for St. James with help from Olivia Jackett and Makayla Evans.

 

Centre Wellington 8 Orangeville 1

Avery Peters and Avery Diljee each had two goals for Centre Wellington while other goals were scored by Number 11 (two goals), Number 5 and Number 4.

Number 7 scored for Orangeville.
