Woodstock rallies in third period to topple Rocks

ELORA – The Elora Rocks yielded a pair of goals in the third period as they were edged 3-2 by the Woodstock Lakers in Western Ontario Super Hockey League play Friday night at the Jefferson Elora and District Community Centre.

Woodstock had grabbed the early lead with the lone goal of the first period before the hosts responded with a pair of goals 18 seconds apart for the Rocks. However, the Lakers came back in the third, tying it with a goal with 1:30 played in the period and winning it with a shorthanded goal with five seconds to go.

Blaize Bridges and Alex Uttley had a goal apiece for Elora while single assists were recorded by Joey Heath, Zack Cameron, Charlie Stephens and Steven Dol.

Kevin Hu scored the first and third goals for Woodstock while Mitch Britton added the other goal. Single assists were awarded to Christian Polillo, Hunter Dubecki, Justin Cheng, Alex Mourani, Gavyn Connell-Helle and Mitch Randell.

The teams each took 40 shots on goal. Colin Dunne was in net for the Gryphs while Ben Edwards was in goal for Woodstock.
